Located between the 15th Century Market Cross and Abbey, this pub occupies a commanding position at the top of the High Street and offers a fine opportunity to watch the world go by when seated at the large front window. A good selection of home-made food complements the ever-changing range of guest beers, where the emphasis is on offering new, different and unusual ales. A pub central to the community it is also welcoming to visitors.
Great pub for a pint. Fair prices and good range of beers.
This is one of Malmesbury's best kept secrets. Totally unassuming and while other places come & go this has been a fixture for as long as I can remember. Not the widest menu, but as many will know that is a good thing! There are day specials on the blackboard to keep it intesting. Been there many times over the years and the food has always been good. Never been disappointed. Tip: Get a table next to the large window to get the best view of the high street I know. To summarise: honest and unpretentious.
Landlord is a miserable old so-and-so. His henchman has learnt from the master. Bar and waiting staff are often useless. BUT it's the best pub in Town - as long as you don't have a dog. Highly recommended for the beer, prices and the craic. Food is also always good.
Visited with family including 2 very hungry children. We were handed menus and told to order by a certain time which was fine by us. Half an hour before the kitchen closed we went to give our order only to be told the kitchen was closed. The Waitress, rather than apologise for the mix up, was quite the opposite. The bar man looked blankly at us and then shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Won’t be returning, not a friendly atmosphere for those visiting malmesbury. We’ll head somewhere that actually wants customers.
We were away on a mini break and it was our last night. It was so nice to have a meal here, I had a burger and chips and my partner had fish n chips. The staff were friendly, the food was fresh and hot. If we are ever there again we will come back and would recommend if you're ever in the area.
