About us

Welcome to The White Horse Birstall, Leicestershire

What makes a good pub? At the White Horse Birstall, we believe the ideal ingredients are hearty, locally sourced food, perfectly served drinks, all in relaxed, picturesque surroundings – which is handy, as that is exactly what we have.

The White Horse is a hidden gem, situated in a beautifully renovated 18th Century former alehouse; a quintessentially, award-winning British pub with dining but, crucially, we have retained our pub feel and ethos.

As local, independent owners, we have cared for the White Horse as if it were our baby, nurturing it into the kind of pub that we would like to visit ourselves. We are family people, but we are also food and drink enthusiasts; we have used our expertise to craft the perfect ‘all-rounder’ of a pub with a cosy, contemporary interior and a leafy beer garden with covered, heated seating.

We are a group of ex work mates who get together approximately once a month. Had a few meals since Lockdown at the Whitehorse. Always been fabulous food and service. Had a Christmas meal in December that was absolutely amazing, so decided to have a January meal which we did tonight. Once again food was amazing and the service and staff great. Thank you all.

We bike along the canal all the time, we stop at this pub everytime before we bike back home. This pub is situated right on the canal, which also looks over Watermead Park. The staff are always very friendly, great choice of drinks and their food is amazing. Nice big beer garden with a kids play area. Would definitely recommend

Service and food amazing! Highly recommend one of the best pub food experiences I have had in a long while we walked in not pre booking and asked for a table for 7. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. I had Brie and beetroot tart. Absolutely gorgeous!

Great meal enjoyed by all our party, including the dog, who was made very welcome and was given his own bag of treats! There is also a menu of drinks and ice creams for the dogs. Not all pubs that are dog-friendly are actually dog-welcoming but this one is. The interior was light and bright and spacious, it is so nice not to be crammed in right next to another group of people but have room to relax and enjoy. Miss Piggy burger was a major highlight! Nice selection of wines too and plenty to choose from on the main menu plus specials - would highly recommend for excellent quality and generous portions.
