The Bull is a stylishly-converted British pub at the heart of Ditchling village. We’re inside the South Downs National Park, yet only 15 minutes from Brighton and the sea.
Favoured by locals and travellers alike, the pub offers a warm and vibrant atmosphere most evenings and weekends and four individually-designed guest rooms. Low timber beams, open fires and deep leather sofas make us a cosy retreat on chillier days; in the Summer, there’s a terrace to enjoy and a large garden with a play area and views of the Downs. We have on offer a delicious, inventive menu, lots of local brews and an enviable wine cellar. Families are welcome and there’s plenty of parking.

My family and I, including two young children, had an excellent lunch at the Bull last weekend. There was a varied menu including a children's menu. The food was excellent and the children were made welcome with crayons and pictures to colour. The service was excellent. It was altogether a very good experience. We all agreed we would recommend The Bull for a family meal.
Absolutely wonderful, warm, welcoming, friendly and a total joy to spend time here. Food is completely immense; everything tastes amazing. Thank you for your kindness and what you have created here for people to enjoy. If you are reading this and haven't been, book a table immediately x
Could be really great but sadly, the food lets it down. Trying too hard to follow food trends and failing as most of it was pretty tasteless. Traditional pub grub would make it so much better. The staff are great and it's beautifully laid out and decorated but like everywhere, even a burger has been ruined by putting it is a big cake of a brioche bun.
Ditchling is lovely and The Bull looks good. There are many staff members and they were attentive and helpful. The food. Rubbish. I had the Curry Lamb Pie...well, not a hint of curry flavour, 2 lumps of meat (one of which was 100% gristle) and some cold chard. The chips were good though. One of the party had a glass of red wine served in a glass covered in finger prints and lipstick. We pointed this out and the glass was taken away, to be returned minus the lipstick but still dirty. Very expensive for a very disappointing experience. We won't be rushing back.
Probably the nicest pub I have had the pleasure of visiting. Myself and my friends spent a wonderful weekend having our every wishes lovingly catered for by Phil and his team. A special mention to Philo who was very doting and set us up for the day with a delicious breakfast each morning. The pub has a varied and wide selection of drinks and a wonderful menu. We had the pleasure of staying in the accommodation, which is kitted out to a very high standard with all luxuries thought of and catered for. I would have absolutely no hesitation in staying again and look forward to my next trip
