What a remarkable pub with a vibrant and congenial staff. Reasonably priced and a spectacular atmosphere on a nightly basis. From the bartenders, to the kitchen staff and upper management, I received genuine hospitality each and every visit. Thank you for making my time in London so memorable, I will certainly be back!
Great service, atmosphere and reasonable prices! During our time in London we stopped at this pub across the street from our accommodations numerous times. The staff were always friendly and attentive. Shout out to Lizzie - she’s great! We didn’t eat here but enjoyed a few beverages which we found were well priced. There is a great bar with a lot of seating around it. Overall we would definitely return if we’re in the area.
Looks nice - some great period features. All downhill from there. Booked for 11 for lunch before a session at Bounce. Arrived to find table set for 10 and nobody at all interested in sorting an additional table. They had 4x 2 people tables set with a 3 chairs around one of them. In the end I had to insist on taking a small round poser table and sit at that! Slow service. Nobody offered to take any drinks order or food order until I went up to the bar 20 mins after arriving. Food very slow. They missed 2 people’s main course order so we asked them to come back and take those orders - those 2 mains then arrived 25 mins before the other 9 orders! The excuse was they were busy. To be honest the food was not good. Just mediocre pub food would have been fine but a lot of dishes were covered in dreadful sticky sauces. The prawn cocktail was shocking. I assume they defrosted the prawns in a microwave and basically cooked them. The fish and chips looked okay, the veggie burger was okay and the duck pasta was okay. Small plates were not something I’d recommend - everything just covered in the same awful spicy sauce so it all tasted the same unless you scraped it off. Real mistake booking here for food. Probably fine for a drink. £400 for a poor experience and they had the temerity to add 12.5% for non existent service or any pretence that they cared. Actually the worst meal out I’ve had in London for some years. Oh well.
Popped in for an afternoon pint for the first time in years and was thrilled to find that not much had changed. Friendly professional welcome and service, airy cool space on a hot day, good beer - what more to ask. Good to see a group doing tequila mid-afternoon.
Nice casual pub for drinks and food. We went on a Friday evening and sat in the sun on the benches at the front, we had Aperol, fish&chips and a Caesar salad which were all delicious. I was on crutches at the time and the toilets are down steep stairs so not great for people with accessibility requirements. *EDIT* There is a disabled toilet available.
