About us

Located just a gentle stroll from the Langdale Estate in the village of Chapel Stile, Wainwrights' Inn is a favourite for locals, guests and walkers alike. An ever-changing selection of fine local (and not so local) ales, compliment a traditional and hearty menu.
Wainwrights’ Inn was once a farmhouse, gunpowder factory managers house, petrol station and hotel. The varied history is matched by the variety of ale from local brewers and a few choice brews from further afield. Other refreshing beverages are available with a selection of wines and seasonal specialities for inside and outside all year round.

We walked here from Langdale Hotel on a Sunday evening for dinner. This is a great country pub, with a cosy & comfy atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had fish & chips and sausage & mash, food came relatively quickly & was tasty. Recommend!

Called in today and had the Sunday Roast while out on a walk, couldn’t fault anything apart from everything on the menu seemed to be £1 to dear (Tourist Price) most likely, local’s probably have some sort of discount like our local pubs in Yorkshire Dales. Staff were very friendly and helpful place was clean and tidy. 1 let down was that the Yorkshire Pudding wasn’t home made.

Enjoyed a lovely meal in beautiful surroundings. The Inn has a very relaxed atmosphere and is very welcoming to both guests just finishing up their days walk and those out for a meal. The food was good and we'd happily return next time we're in the area.

Cosy pub with a good selection of food and drinks, many of which representing the local cuisine. Their lamb is to die for (unfortunately I missed taking a picture), and their venison burger was outstanding as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
