Desire to check this place out after reading reviews. Thought pub was shut but parked up in small layby opposite and knocked on door. Made very welcome by owner Neil, a really genuine bloke with an affable character. Place is a time warp from way bygone era ! Good beer and my wife had a wonderful glass of wine. Recommend if in or near area to pop in, you shouldn't be dissapointed after having a chat with friendly, characterful landlord with immense knowledge of locality.
What an outstanding place! As authentic as you can not expect of most pubs nowadays. This pub is a true time capsule and shows its history in really all aspects. The last changes might have been done 30 years ago. Ralph, the landlord, is a truly nice person. Very welcoming, of a very special character. The last night was great. Thank you Ralph!
Unique and timeless place full of Character not like any Pub you've ever been too before 😊 stuck in a time of its own. Was last there twenty years ago not changed one bit, was very happy that it hasn't.
Six of us stopped here this Saturday gone on a long walk from Askrigg... what a bizarre pub! Christmas decorations up and a lamb sat by the fire! The Landlord was very welcoming on our long walk... good selection of beers but they don't do food (crisps only!). if you are passing make sure you pop in... if he's open! Fantastic boozer. We will be back.
Traditional country pub. Very old world. Very friendly landlord. Like stepping back in time.
