About us

The Two Tubs is an award-winning, family-run pub in the heart of Bury.

Donna and Steve welcome all to The Two Tubs!

With a strong focus on giving back to our local community, our mission, to put it simply, is to create a safe haven for all.

Famed for its rich history, The Two Tubs was originally named “The Globe Inn” and is the oldest hostelry in this famous market town. With parts dating back to the 1600’s, the venue is Grade II listed.

In 1830 landlord Mr Shaw and ‘Owd Pudgy’ of The Toasted Cheese Club responded to competition from the neighbouring Old White Bear’s new signage by sawing a barrel in half to form a globe, the hoops and staves intended to represent the lines of latitude and longitude.

The Two Tubs’ nickname remains to this day.

Excellent choice of real ales. Cosy rooms and good service. Open fire which was lit and lots of atmosphere as you would find in an historic place.

A trip down memory lane, revisiting our teenage haunt of the Two Tubs tonight. Very welcoming and friendly and the bar server was fantastic. The rooms still work well and we enjoyed the live music. Possibly a little quiet for a Saturday night, but Bury was mid-August quiet in general so difficult to judge. It was good to be back!

Seems like a clique pub wherein the regulars expect to know you if you visit — I enquired to the member of staff who served me if their beer garden was open to which I was met with “it’s currently closed” — usually when someone enquires about this it is opened for them, but not this time no… to be fair, the fellow who served me I feel was trying to be polite but that just felt off, and the boozer smelt a little too… so it wasn’t the only thing off

Cozy pub with a proper English but local atmosphere. The lady behind the bar was really friendly and the prices were cheap. No Carling and no loo for a poo in the mens toilette though, so only 3 stars.

What a great pub this is. Tucked away near the big church in the heart of Bury Town center. The beer is top class and the pub has a great atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Great staff , well managed.
