About us

The Three Horseshoes is renowned for its warm welcome and generous community spirit. Serving local beers and ales, an eclectic wine list and comforting pub food made from seasonal ingredients, the pub has six rooms and a large garden with views across the rolling Cotswold hills.

Since 1726, the pub’s innkeepers – farriers by trade, replaced the horseshoes of travellers passing through the village. In 1977 it was renamed The Maytime. Today the pub has returned to its roots, becoming The Three Horseshoes in honour of its history and heritage.

Just had the most amazing first class family celebration lunch party for 21, and the food was absolutely delicious. Hot, cooked to perfection, this service was the same for each course, the staff were well trained and amazing, it all went so smoothly - best we’ve a experienced in a very long time in the Burford area. Our family from London were very impressed indeed. Thank you Annie and the Team, this was a perfect start to our Christmas and it was certainly above and beyond our expectations. Fabulous food. Great venue. Merry Christmas to you all.

We've just come back from two fabulous nights in this beautiful country oasis. The staff were all exceptionally helpful and incredibly friendly and certainly made the stay even more enjoyable as did the charming manager who sat and talked to us and gave recommendations for our days out. The food was gorgeous from the stunning breakfast to the mouth-watering dinners. Asthall is a quintessential English hamlet in rolling English countryside and is arguably even more pretty in the winter than the summer. Thank you all so much for making us feel so welcome.

Went here for dinner with my wife and friends and the food was really nice. I had duo of venison which was fabulous. Pork pie to start, again excellent. Service was top notch and its a beautiful pub. Why the 1 star, unfortunately my wife was really I'll that night, at first we put it down to rich food and the very nice red. We then found out one half of the other couple was also very ill that night. They had both had the same desert. The main reason for the poor review, is not so much the food made my wife and our friend ill. It's more the fact that after we contacted the 3 Horseshoes, just informing them they had made people ill (did not ask for refund) they have not even bothered replying. The food was really nice. Shame about the food poisoning and lack of care from the management.

This is a massive upgrade on its previous incarnation. What a triumph. The staff are fantastically attentive, non-intrusive but consistently “on it”. I was so impressed. Annie helped us out with a table and was absolutely marvellous. Well done! We’ll be back soon.

Did a long walk to have roast dinner at the three horseshoes and it was definitely worth it. The building is beautiful, the service friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious. Especially loved the rice pudding with toffee apple compote. Not the cheapest roast but it's definitely worth the money. Cocktails are good too. Not the last time we shall be visiting.
