The good: the pub has had a bit of a makeover since my last visit and is now quite appealing inside, with wood flooring, a fresh lick of paint and fireplaces. It's also dog-friendly. The bad: at just before 2pm on a Sunday, they had already sold out of the roasts and many other popular items. (Whoever is responsible for order planning in this pub should be fired!) You can order your food online or on an app rather than queue at the bar, but this was running painfully slowly. The ugly: almost two hours after ordering, we were still waiting for our main course. Result: two very hungry and very unhappy children. We asked to speak to a manager, who apologised and said that one chef had phoned in sick and another manager was covering. No-one mentioned that when we arrived; if they had told us to expect a long wait, we would have gone elsewhere. While waiting, my daughter reminded me that a similar thing happened the last time we were here, so this wasn't just a one-off. When it finally arrived, the food was ok, but definitely not worth the wait. In a word: avoid!
Lady who served us was great, lovely atmosphere, food well presented, only thing is chicken wing was a bit dry and overcooked. But overall a good experience
I was a bit dubious about going here as I have been previously and the service has been painfully slow but they appear to have improved immensely since the refit. The menu is varied and the food delicious and beautifully presented. Would recommend.
Roast turkey was a bit dry, the potatoes were not freshly made, they looked a bit like Aunt Bessies, Yorkshire Pudding was lovely. Dessert was wonderful. Really quick service, good waiting staff. Decor is really nice, very tasteful. Would return.
Went here last weekend for a few drinks and some food with mates. Was served by a lady behind the bar called Kitty. She was very attentive and friendly and also had good chat. She made us feel very welcomed. The food was also pretty decent and the desserts (sundaes) look decadent!
