Finsbury Park can offer a lot more than old man's boozers these days (though is still well-served in that department), which means T-Bird doesn't stand out as much as when it first arrived. Comfortably worn sofas nestle with an assortment of other chairs to make this long, thin venue appear less like a corridor, but unless you get a seat it is hard to find anywhere to stand out of the way.
I like this place, been coming since it opened more than 15 years ago. It's much nicer inside than it used to be, soft lit with candles, and never too busy. Last week however brought some friends and had three really badly poured pints of Guinness, all different levels of bad. They place was empty (Friday night) so no need to rush. Two pounds more than the Kings Head and a pound more than the Arsenal - both pour a great Guinness. Last orders called at 10:30 pm on a Friday (despite what their website says - 1am). I see this place closing for good if they don't pull their socks up.
Solid bar, comfortable seats, friendly owner and staff, but the highlight is the room downstairs where I have been to watch comedy nights on many occasions. Well worth a visit if you are in Highbury / Finsbury Park.
Food was good, we had the buffalo wings, and honey BBQ wings. Very saucy. Onion wings were great too, so we're the Mac & cheese sticks.
This bar is a little gem. It’s quite chill and quiet on non match days so it’s good for a group of friends to sit and drink and chat. Cosy seating options and good music. The bar also lets you order food from local eateries. Or you can order at the burger place next door and let them know you will be at T Bird and they will bring it to you at the bar. Friday’s has free comedy nights in the basement.
Cosy little bar next to a couple of great eateries!
