Lovely pub on the river, was toasty warm when I visited in Jan. The staff were friendly and they have a good selection of drinks.
This is a great pub in a great location, so always very popular. I wish senior management would acknowledge this reality of life, and employ a few more staff. The current staff work hard, but still struggle to deal with the pressure they are under. Fuller's, please take note!
This review is only for the restaurant. We went for an evening meal for Christmas eve, I ordered the roast chicken and I was expecting to receive a decent cut of meat instead I received a wing with a tiny piece of meat attached, for the price they charged I would have expected better quality. In addition, it look like the staff was getting ready for Christmas day stripping down tables and taking out the bins. If you are looking for a special dinner on Christmas eve , keep looking.
We haven't stayed at the hotel, as we live nearby, but we have eaten at their restaurant a couple of times and will definately be going back more. The food was great and the staff are so lovely. My wife and I loved their fish sharing platter and on another occasion I had their steak and ale pie. Would thoroughly recommend both dishes! We brought our little girl who is now 4 months old. The staff were really nice and came over to say hi to her and check that everything was ok. The staff were always so smiley and kind, nothing was too much of an ask. We really like the energy the staff and location give and the food was great. If you like triple-cooked-chips, you need to try the chips at the Swan. You won't be disappointed.
We had a lovely stay here as a family. The rooms were lovely with the best tea and coffee making facilities I have experienced in a hotel room. Good shower, comfortable bed. A nice Dyson fan in lieu of air con. And a TV that actually worked without kerfuffle. It was also very peaceful once the pub chucked out around 10 to 10.30. I would definitely come back here, it's a little gem. Staff were friendly and polite. A beautiful view of the river and breakfast was lovely with lots of cooked options. The only thing that some may not like are the sloping floors in some of the rooms, I liked it personally as it is a feature of an old building, but some may not.
