Very good pub food and ales, very reasonably priced, I've eaten here 3 times in the last 9 months while staying at the Campsite nearby and it's always consistently good quality.
Lovely tasty food, happy and efficient staff. Even the filter coffee was lovely. Mixed Grill £12:95 I would have happily paid £20. Everything too cheap for that quality and amount imo.
Situated just before the entrance to Beamish, this is a lovely gem of a pub. It is a traditional, no nonsense country pub with wholesome home cooked, delicious food. We visited on a Friday afternoon and it was easy enough to get seated. The staff were very friendly and there is a decent array of beers on tap. The menu isn’t extensive but has a nice choice of traditional pub meals such as steak, lasagne, gammon, corned beef pie etc. also has a kids menu. The staff took our food and drinks order at the table and the food was brought out within fifteen minutes. The home cooked chips were to die for! The only disappointment was the lack of ‘normal’ cola on tap. Prices very reasonable and we will definitely be back.
Went for Sunday lunch which was OK but nothing spectacular. We both had roast turkey, mine came with parsnips but no carrots and the other came with carrots but no parsnips. Quite a long wait for our meals too. At £10.95 it's not expensive however. They only would accept reservations up to 12:30, walk ins only after. It was very busy when we were there.
Saturday early evening at 5pm ish and the pub was packed. Great atmosphere. Super large lovely meals. Incredibly well priced. LOVED IT!!
