About us

Welcome to The Seven Stars Falmouth.

The pub is one of the last traditional free houses left in Falmouth.

The Seven Stars was granted its licence in 1660, a year before Falmouth was given its Royal Charter and the licensee at the time was one Henry Penial and his spouse Mary-Jane! It has seen many changes around Falmouth and has also encountered many characters, from salty old sea dogs to royalty. Many of the characters worked on the water or for the water, on working boats or down in the shipyard. All of them had fascinating stories to tell.

Time has stood still in this much loved and respected establishment. It is a Grade II listed building its original layout out was a three storey building with a stable to the right hand side you can still see the original stable doors as you go into the gent’s loos. 1912 saw the stable taken down and an extension was added. The frontage adorned a beautiful ornate decorative display attached to the still existing balcony, it had a circular display of 7 stars and the word hotel. The balcony was kept but the decorative part was taken away and used for ammunition in the war.

If you want a pint of proper real ale gravity poured this is your dreams answered. Nice bit of craic and no music in the way or mobiles ringing. Just good old fashioned chat, and lovely staff. This is non food pub.

Not sure if they serve food but we have eaten takeaways on the outside tables. Lovely old, real ale pub, recently revamped but keeps it's original features and atmosphere.

Whilst visiting Falmouth in May 2023 we were told to visit the oldest pub in Falmouth to soak up some atmosphere! Absolute gem of an old world pub, the young lady behind the bar was fantastic as were the locals who made us feel right at home, spent a couple of hours chewing the fat with the locals and enjoying more than a couple of pints. don't judge a book by its cover, fantastic boozer and look forward to revisiting if I am ever back in the area.

Absolutely fantastic place. Great harvest festival for a good charity. The staff are all friendly and it has a great atmosphere. A place where you can sit and watch the world go by in their outdoor seating area.

If you're looking for an old-fashioned, traditional boozer in Falmouth, look no further than the Seven Stars, located in the centre of Falmouth Town (about a 10 minute walk from the station). The place hasn't changed a bit since I first visited eight years ago: the same worn, decades-old furniture, the barrels openly visible behind the bar(s) - and the good range of ales that has earned Seven Stars an entry in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Well, they don't nail mobile phones to the walls any more - but you are still advised to set them to "silent" if you stay inside. Thankfully, there is also an extended outside seating area now - that wasn't there eight years ago, maybe due to the fact that I first visited in autumn back then. On a warm day, this is clearly the option to choose, especially since the view onto the square is rather nice, and since the Seven Stars occupies a niche a bit off the actual square, it is rather relaxed and quiet. This is a place for beer lovers.
