The Rose & Crown in Stratford upon Avon is a gorgeous traditional pub in the historic heart of Stratford. Our menu is in the best tradition of British pub food. Best enjoyed with a drink, friends and a warm welcome at the Rose & Crown.
The original Rose & Crown was situated at no.1 Sheep Street, next to the town hall and is mentioned in Wheelers History as one of the townβs principle inns. It was in the late 1850s that the original hostelry closed and the name was transferred to an inn at the current site, formally called the Green Dragon. Records for this location go back as far as 1596 when a major fire burnt down most of the property in Sheep Street. By 1703, records indicate that a malthouse was established on the site. In 1858 Edmund Paine inherited the property from his father Edward and at least half of it was renamed the Rose & Crown.
Today, weβre proud to say our menu is packed with Great British pub food classics, including iconic dishes like our hand-battered fish and chips, pie and mash and succulent burgers. Our drinks include a great range of real ales and an extensive wine list. Our cask ales range has some of the best in British beers, including the new 1730, our very own special pale ale. The team at the Rose & Crown look forward to welcoming you soon at this fantastic traditional pub in Stratford upon Avon.
The pub was rammed today with Arsenal & Villa fans. But the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were superb. Thankyou. We ordered the Christmas Turkey pie, and five tapas. All beautifully fresh, hot and tasty. This is a wonderful pub and accessible for out wheelchair using son. Well done team. Youβre fantastic under pressure π
Was there for the Boxing. Had booked a table near a TV. Which we got. We had to ask to have it put on several times. Ordered food and the food was not nice... Portion size has shrunk. I've eaten there before many times but was really disappointed this time. I asked for a napkin and was told they'd ran out at 8pm on a Saturday. So ended up going to the toilet. Love going there we've been going there for years but this place really needs a refurbishment especially the toilets. Feel sorry for the staff
For a Green King pub the food seemed to have been under a hot lamp for awhile. Bar service not as expected with bar staff ignoring queue and serving others that they knew.
Good food, tasty tap beer, a nice traditional pub atmosphere. Pretty chill place to unwind after a long day of exploring. Lots of space inside, plus a large wrap around patio. Louder upbeat music is in the back, while the front of the pub is nearly silent (actually a great thing - choose your preference!) They have their own beer on tap too, and itβs pretty darn good :-)
Great pub serving lovely food and good beers π. lovely long well done out pub with a beer garden to boot π. Love it .
