About us

The Rose and Crown Hotel and Bed and Breakfast in Clitheroe is situated 100 yards from clitheroe castle. Our delightful Hotel has as much charm as it has history. There is very good evidence that there has been a public house on the site of The Rose & Crown since Tudor times.

The building as it stands today was built in 1836 and up

until 1860 it played a prominent part in the life of the local people, even

being used as the county court at one time. Traditional characteristics of the

property still exist, including the old archway to the courtyard, and public

rooms retain original features like high ceilings and large windows looking out onto the street.

So if your looking for Hotels in Clitheroe give us a go, you will not be disappointed.

Popped in for a roast dinner before checking out Clitheroe Castle. We were some of the only people there but very spacious, food was substantial and as expected, no complaints. Could do with some more ambience and louder music to improve the atmosphere.

Big thanks to Ann for sorting me out at such short notice. Great place to stay as all the staff work hard and make life easy. Big breakfast, free car park and a great location. Clean towels everyday and a nice Big bar. When l go back to Clitheroe l will be staying at the Rose and Crown. Thanks to all.

Hey, say it as it is. Bit soulless, very bright lights, just had a refurb, really? Beer as good as should be with Thwaites, staff a bit disinterested on a quiet Saturday afternoon, can't blame 'em, but surely Clitheroe has a wee bit more to offer ? Thwaite Golden Lion in Settle is the standard to aim for.

I have deleted my previous review as I have reconsidered and feel that I was being slightly unfair. Wouldn't hesitate to return. Great atmosphere. Can't comment on the rooms as we didn't stay over.

Good pub for a pint, with a barman who also knew the ale was on turn as he poured it, first sip confirmed and no issues swapping to a different drink.
