The best pub in Borough, maybe the world.. Local brews & sustainable chews.
The Roebuck could well be one of Borough's best kept secrets. Independently owned and loved by the locals, The Roebuck offers a broad selection of beers and ales from around the world, a freshly prepared menu full of locally sourced produce, an easy going atmosphere and a friendly welcome as standard.
Tucked away at the leafier end of Great Dover Street, The Roebuck balances being a little bit off the beaten track with being incredibly easy to get to: Borough tube is less than a five minutes stroll away, whilst a ten minute quickstep brings you from either Elephant & Castle or London Bridge.
Built to imposing Victorian proportions, the large, airy pub boasts an incredible upstairs function room, packed with period fixtures and an indeterminate charm.
We specialise in local beer such as Sambrook's in Battersea & Meantime in Greenwich, and ciders from The Cotswolds Brewing Company, as well as other unique and hard to find beers.
The Roebuck kitchen is all about fresh, homemade, well cooked, value for money food. Our menu consists of pub classics, weekend brunch and top quality Sunday lunch.
Our beautiful Victorian function room is steeped in history, with Charlie Chaplin performing here as a young boy at the turn of the century and seminal British Jazz orchestra Loose Tubes forming in the room in the late Eighties. It is now the weekly home of Bang Said The Gun! London's best known and much respected stand up poetry night. The spacious room is also available for private hire and provides a perfect setting for any sized celebration, works party or seasonal get together. I was here with my friends that have been living in London for many years. Perfect place, quite, nice and peaceful. The location is great and very typical, we sat outside since it was a beautiful day and it was simply perfect. We had some beers, hamburgers and other typical dishes, all very good. Hope to come back next time in London!
Nice cosy dog friendly pub. We had planned to eat here but decided not to, so I can't comment on the food. But the atmosphere was lovely, warm, Christmassy, and dog friendly. And i could see the shard from my seat, which was nice.
Great atmosphere here. Lovely the selection of non alcoholic beer
Loved this pub! Such a great atmosphere! The interiors match the exterior and make you feel in a different age.. Has plenty of space indoors and outdoors! Came here to have a whiskey and I was impressed by the good selection of scotch! Prices were also quite affordable in my opinion. Staff is really friendly and welcomes you with a smile.. also quite knowledgeable..
The Roebuck on Trinity street and Falmouth road on the south side of the A2 is a simply beautiful Victorian building, lucky enough to be a great pub as well! Beer is lovely and cold and tasty (all on a gorgeous summer's day, an extra and is allowed!). A fair selection of cask ales for them that do too. A great pub!
