Popped in for a drink only. Deceptive in its size, with a range of rooms inside , at least 1 with an open fire. Like many places, a lack of staff hampers full operation. But a nice atmosphere, & cosy.
Enjoyed a very pleasant lunchtime meal. Simple yet tasty food, very welcoming staff and a lovely open fire to warm ourselves (freezing cold outside at the time!). This old building has been restored to an extremely high standard so quite special to sit inside. Recommended.
Absolutely beautiful place, lovely historical building and the food was the best iv had in a long time, the fish and chips was the best iv ever had. Delicious. Couldn’t recommend it enough and will definitely be going back.
I went in there this evening, lovely pub and a very nice, calm atmosphere considering it’s Christmas, however….I was served by the Leeds supporter on the bar, I was polite, tried talking to him about his team, but he was very rude and obnoxious . The other staff seemed really nice and helpful, but not him. I ordered a cider and a spiced rum and coke…he charged me £16.85! He may be the reason why the place was so dead.
A beautiful historic building as a pub. The food is fairly standard pub grub (good for everyone and well priced). Its dog friendly too - inside - as long as they are well behaved and on a lead. The bar staff told us this building was derelict until 2006, when it underwent a 2 year, £4.5m renovation, which is still incomplete (but you wouldn't know it!). There are lots of small rooms furnished like a posh hotel, so even in busy times you won't feel like its busy.
