I had lunch here 23rd December 2023. Service was top notch. I had the fish pie and bread pudding. Both were exceptionally tasty. On arrival the pub had a warm atmosphere, even with just a few tables seated at that time . Nicely spaced out, so as tables filled, it didn't feel cramped. I would highly recommend the Red Lion in all aspects.
Small pub atmosphere. Clean and bright. Dog friendly. Service excellent. Food choice and presentation unexpectedly good. Lunch time opening always our preference. Thoroughly pleasant experience. Thank you
The Red Lion in Blackwater near Truro is a friendly Cornish pub. For a small pub it provides a wide menu - including several vegan and vegetarian options. The chef excels at traditional pub food, which is beautifully cooked. The more than ample portions and fresh local ingredients show a lack of stinginess which is admirable . The steak is excellent as are the burgers. The staff are lovely.
Wow! I don't often write reviews but this pub is amazing! Not only everyone is friendly, the service is VERY quick and the food was great, one of the best fish and chips we ever had, and the chicken in the burger was so juicy, it was super tasty. Plus it is dog friendly so I'd give additional star for this if I could. Thank you!
