Here at The Red Lion Dagnall we offer freshly prepared dishes using locally sourced produce, from curry night to fish Friday as well as our main menu which offers a variety of dishes catering for all tastes, allergens & dietary requirements. Alongside our team of dedicated and friendly staff we try to make your time at The Red Lion a happy and enjoyable experience. During the winter we have two roaring log burners for you to sit and enjoy a Sunday Roast and a whisky by, and in summer families, cyclists & dogs enjoy our newly planted garden. The Red Lion Pub is situated in Dagnall, a small village just below Whipsnade Zoo and in the middle of the three counties Bucks, Beds and Herts. The area is deemed An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the views speak for themselves. The Pub itself was built in 1740 and has retained many of the original features - only the customers have changed over the years! We aim to retain the feel of an old 'inn' and welcome chatting at the bar and providing a relaxing and friendly atmosphere to locals and visitors.

Such a lovely little pub - cosy, with friendly service. However….. I have been twice for dinner with friends and although last time so many items on the rather short menu were unavailable, we thought we would give it another go/the benefit of the doubt. Sadly we were so disappointed- nearly everything we asked for was not available . I ordered a starter and cheese and biscuits just to have something to eat as we were out to dinner. Any dessert I would have wanted was unavailable so I didn’t bother. As a vegetarian it was a huge challenge to eat here sadly. But the staff were very nice
Wow what a lovely place to eat, so my wife Jules rang to book a table and explain that our daughter who had had covid didn’t eat meat at the moment so did they have any other choices and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Great attitude but did recommend if we wanted one of the roasts we should pre book to avoid disappointment. They even said if there is nothing on the menu our daughter doesn’t like the chef will do his best to create something. We did book a couple of beef and a Turkey (that was the days choices) and was welcomed with a great smile and lovely ale (otter was lovely) The food was great but the beef does come rare so if that’s too pink for you simply ask when you order and the will ensure it’s how you like it. The food was lovely with veg al dente the roasts crunchie and meat lovely. When it comes to desert they have daily specials and we have the bisoff cheese cake with ice cream but was again lovely. This is overall a lovely pub and was very pleased with the service and quality of food and drink. Very happy to recommend
Been here a few times now, Ed, Deb's and Julie always give a warm welcome. There's a good selection of real ales and beers here(the Drop Bar is tasty and refreshing) with 2 bar seating areas, with a restaurant part as well. It has a lovely garden area with parking The Special and Take Away menu are more expensive to eat in but are available, whilst the restaurant menu changes according to seasons, availability, produce available etc. Well worth visiting.
We went here for a meal it and it was very tasty and satisfying. The burgers were prepared with passion and tastes great. The portion size is more than what I excepted to be honest. The pub is very clean and staff is friendly. I recommend Red Lion if you are around that are hunting for a meal. Thanks 👍
