The Railway is a traditional town centre tavern located adjacent to the main railway station in Doncaster and attracts local shoppers and office workers during the day along with local residential trade during the evening. It is a popular stop off point for commuters from the nearby train station. The Railway is a one bar operation with a large L-shaped open plan lounge and an adjacent small snug bar, both traditionally decorates with space for over 30 covers. Furthermore, the snug area has its own bar hatch for convenience, a traditional fire and also has additional fixed and loose seating for over 20 guests. Positioned between the lounge and snug is a pool table and gaming machines that are very popular with the local sports enthusiasts and can be used to develop a pub sports team. This pub is rich with amenities as it also boasts a large function room on the second bar, decked with it own bar that can be developed further with the correct marketing. The Railway has a large private accommodation area, with three-bedrooms, a lounge and a kitchen. Predominantly a wet led business, there is the potential to introduce and develop a bar snack menu to widen the current customer base.
I used to use the Railway all the time, but since its “reopening” I’ve never found it open. I’ve just tried again and despite info on WhatPub saying 11:30 and their own photo on Google saying 11am, it was still closed at noon.
They have just started doing pie and peas. Very nice and value for money. We really enjoyed it
What a great night we've just had. The landlord and landlady are brilliant. The pub has a great atmosphere. Love it. We will definitely go again.
Staff lovely, some nice real ales on, Timothy Taylor and farmers blonde, warm pork scratchins, more to come disco nights, quiz nights and karaoke as well, lovely landlady and landlord, warm staff worth a visit people
Very close to the train station. 4 rotating cask ales and also the usual suspects. Nice atmosphere. They give a discount for Camra members. I paid 2.80 for a pint.
