The village of Newton is approximately 7 miles south of Cambridge and sits in an intersection of roads that link Harston, Hauxton, Whittesford, Thriplow and Foxton, not far from the M11. It is a small, rural village with much of the surrounding countryside farmed by the Hurrell family, who have been here since the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. The local church of St. Margaret’s was substantially restored in 1851 and now is best seen when it’s notable carpet of aconites are in bloom in the early spring. Newton is a great place to build into a walk or cycle ride around the area, or as a stop on route to the IWM Duxford or the Thriplow Daffodil weekend.
A real pub with great ber and simple but tasty lunch food, soup is listed by its colour!
I have visited the Queen's Head infrequently over the past 40 years, and it hasn't changed one bit. Still a great traditional English pub with exceptional Adnams beer kept the proper way. And here's hoping it stays that way!
This place is unbelievable for food and beer. This has to be a must visit place. All the food is great. I've almost tried the whole menu and I am never disappointed. The cider is lovely. But they have a great range of beers which I hear great things about.
Very disappointed with poor quality of food. Ordered cheese sandwiches which looked like they had been done in the kitchen by my 5 year old, terrible presentation and cheese was way too strong. Will not return or recommend!
What a lovely little village pub. Very welcoming and has seating outside with a shelter and heat lamps, there is also a garden at the back too. The beer is very good and several choices including some in the barrel. There is a different food can on a Wednesday and Sunday.
