Plaquemine Lock is an English pub set on the Regents Canal in Angel, Islington. We serve Cajun and Creole food, cooked to a very high standard in a very relaxed atmosphere.
At the turn of the twentieth century Jacob Hortenstein came to Plaquemine to build a Lock, which was to enable heavy cargoes of Louisiana timber (from the Schwing Lumber & Shingle Corporation), moss (Schwing Moss co), and later sugar cane and oil, to transfer safely from the Bayou onto the mighty Mississipi. Carrie B Schwing opened Plaquemine Lock in 1909, swooshing a champagne bottle against the lockhouse as the family steamer (also called Carrie B Schwing) passed through the lock gates.
Carrie B Schwing & Jacob Hortenstein’s great-grandson (Jacob Kenedy) opened Plaquemine Lock in London on the Regents Canal. It is a pub serving great beer, strong cocktails and wine for those inclined.

Only had drinks there, friendly small pub near the canal. It's inspired by the Southern US in its menu and decor. The specialty are oysters and they hosts live Jazz nights and other themed events. Lovely quirky place
Loved it here, such a lovely location! Gorgeous pub, went for the Saturday jazz brunch, with New Orleans food and live music! Will definitely pop back to this pub when next in London.
Really enjoyed this fun, lively pub with Louisiana/Creole food and live music. The Po Boys were super tasty! We also had side dishes of corn bread and fried green tomatoes.
This place is a proper jewl, bringing a different pub vibe to the Regent's canal neighbourhood. Serving unique dishes and offering the best happy hour in the area (oysters and shrimps for 1£ each, cocktails for 4£). Top notch Bloody Mary and mimosas. Live jazz music is cherry on top, singer and saxophonist were an absolute pros👌🏻
Really lovely Regent canal side pub with a Louisiana vibe situated near Angel Station. The live music was really good and the food was fantastic. The beer selection was surprisingly good with a good amount of craft beer options to try. I’ll be back for sure. Only thing to be aware of is the outside drinking license ends at 08:30PM so try get an inside table if you intend to be there around then.

The Island Queen really is one of a kind. Tucked away on Islington's quiet backstreets, "the Queen" is a quaint oasis of comfy sofas, high ceilings and intriguing original features reminiscent of a classic London gin palace.
