The Parsons Pig opened towards the end of the 18th century and was originally called ‘The Ship and Anchor’. It was a popular stopover for stagecoaches on route to Brighton,
it was renamed as ‘Blue Anchor’ until ownership changed hands in the 1940’s when it came to be known as ‘The Parsons Pig’.
The story goes that a local Parson, a close friend of the owners, was gifted a Pig by a Parishioner. The Parson decided to keep it as a pet instead of making a Hog Roast and serving it in a feast. This was rather unusual and the word spread that the Parson had kept a pig as a pet!

Excellent Indian restaurants serving fairly authentic Indian cuisine. It was very busy for a Tuesday night, which added to the atmosphere and the service was speedy and efficient for the most part. Would recommend for lovers of good Indian food.
Nice place, friendly staff, food (the meat selection) unfortunately quite dry and on a expensive side. Starter was nice.
Drove past this place daily and finally got to visit. Glad we did! Excellent food and impressive customer service. Will defo be coming back.
Looked promising.. Plenty of parking due to the chain hotel next door.. but the pub side was nothing special.. Place had a real warm wood fire which I like... So I may return again but this visit felt staff were stand offish with a just serve and go mentally.. Anyway.. Food had chicken pie was ok.. Like I said Will return and see if I was wrong in my experience with cold atmosphere..
A fantastic curry with excellent service and great atmosphere. An excellent choice of food, especially curries. So much choice, and I also liked seeing more unknown curries on the menu, although that did make it harder to choose 😅 A good selection of beers to boot. Service was superb too. Really attentive and efficient. An excellent meal.
