About us

We are one of many craft brewers of British Ales to be found in Nottinghamshire and indeed, across the country. Our aim is to help continue the growth of Real Ale by providing a range of good quality, distinctive Real Ales.

"In May 2014 we opened our brewery tap, the Old Volunteer in Carlton Square, Nottingham. The pub has nine real ales on hand pull, four of which are Flipside brewery beers with five regularly changing guest beers. We are proud to be both CaskMarque and LocAle accredited and take great pride in the quality of our beers. The Old Volunteer also offers a range of craft keg beers, bottled Belgian beers and over 40 whiskies from around the globe (but mainly Scotland). Complementing a small but excellent food menu, great decor and an excellent, friendly and welcoming atmosphere, a visit to the Old Volunteer is not to be missed"

After a lot of thought about a name for a brewery we came up with Flipside, a reference to the coin collecting hobby of our head brewer. This also provides the theme for the names of the beers which are loosely based around coins and currency, apart from when we can’t resist using the word "flipping"!.

Limited food range but that's not why people go there. Lovely staff and a great range of beers. One of my favorite places. Has live music some nights and a regular Sunday evening quiz.

*Food Score is (Drinks)* As you walk in you're meet with a great selection of whiskies and microbrewery beers. Nice dog friendly establishment to stop by to quench your dogs thirst giving you perfect cover quench your own. A nice quiet pub to sit down in or outside with crisps pork scratchings and nuts whilst having a nice drink.

Nice pub with a relaxed atmosphere, no loud music so it's great for a catch up. It's run by a local brewery team and hosts a lot of real/cask ales from other local breweries. They also have several mini beer festivals throughout the year, one of which is this weekend.
