An early 18th Century listed building, formerly the coach house of the hotel next door. The Oak is one of Oswestry’s many free houses. This relaxed, unspoilt pub is situated close to the town centre opposite the parish church of St Oswald.
here is a small public bar/games room at the front and behind is a much larger and comfortable lounge with two screens for sports events. Note the interesting listing of old Oswestry pubs on the wall. The lounge may be accessed via the public bar or via the passage that runs down the side of the pub. The passage also leads to the garden to the rear of the pub. Listed in CAMRA's "Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors". It was also listed in an early Good Beer Guide in 1975. Entries were very brief in those days, but here's what it said - "pleasant atmosphere".
Went in to meet friends for a drink staff was so friendly and pleasant place was very clean and tidy will be going soon to try the food. Review to follow
Nice beers, welcoming atmosphere, my go to pub all year round (not that I go out often these days).
One of the oldest pubs in Oswestry, lovely historical building and cosy, warm atmosphere on the inside. Fantastic true cask ales, great outdoors seating area, covered porch and just a proper true, great pub. Being opposite St. Oswalds church adds to it's special character and even better looking at it from St. Oswalds church grounds. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and so are the locals who frequent the Oak Inn. Thanks to you all for such an amazing pub and experience. Will be back and certainly recommend a visit to this pub to properly experience it all!
I was in Oswestry for a week over Christmas and came here a few times it was really nice to be able to sit in beer garden even in December. Lovely warm heaters. Perfect for walking the dog and having a few drinks

At the time of writing the King’s Head had only just re-opened after a total refit revealing a welcoming, modern style bar.
