About us

Re-built around 1870 The Notley Arms Inn, Exmoor National Park, Somerset has recently been refurbished back a traditional country inn with open fires and a beautiful beer garden bounded by a bubbling stream and a separate coach house with six en-suite bedrooms which have been awarded 'Four Star Gold' by the AA.

We serve Somerset's finest Ales, Beers and Ciders as well as the best local produce for our meals, which are freshly prepared daily by our award winning team of chefs. Our prices includes a delicious fresh home cooked full Exmoor Somerset breakfast.

Whilst in a stunningly beautiful part of Exmoor, we are conveniently located to Taunton (13 miles); Minehead (9 miles) and Dunster (7 miles). Other nearby points of interests are: Tarr Steps; Exmoor's most famous landmark is an ancient stone clapper bridge shaded by gnarled old trees. Its huge slabs are propped up on stone columns embedded in the River Barle. Local folklore aside (which declares it was used by the devil for sunbathing), it first pops into the historical record in the 1600s. Holnicote Estate; The 5060-hectare Holnicote Estate sweeps south east out of Porlock, taking in a string of impossibly pretty villages. Picturesque Bossington leads to charming Allerford , with its 15th-century packhorse bridge. The biggest, Selworthy , offers eye-catching Exmoor views, a cafe, shop, and cob-and-thatch cottages clustering around the village green. Cliff Railway; This extraordinary piece of Victorian engineering sees two cars linked by a steel cable descend or ascend the sloping cliff face according to the weight of water in the carsโ€™ tanks. All burnished wood and polished brass, itโ€™s been running since 1890 and makes for an unmissable ride. And finally we would like to recommend, the beautiful West Somerset Steam Railway; the longest Steam Heritage Railway in the UK connecting Minehead with Bishops Lydeard.

The Notley Arms Inn is a traditional country pub, and restaurant with rooms within Exmoor National Park.

Booked a couple of nights stay at the Notley Arms for myself and my mother in order to take part in the Honda Dave Thorpe enduro day over Exmoor. Beautiful and quiet location situated in Monksilver village. Simon & Caroline are fantastic hosts and made us both feel very welcome. The rooms are tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. My room was a little on the small side, but perfectly adequate for what I wanted. The restaurant and bar area have an eclectic decorative style making it very interesting to look round. I found the food to be absolutely delicious, proper homemade food, decent portions, locally sourced produce, cooked and seasoned well at the right price point. All in all we felt very well looked after and wouldnโ€™t hesitate in staying there again in order to explore the local area. Thank you for a wonderful stay ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Stayed for 2 nights while in the area. Simon is a great host even kept the place open when my flight was delayed and I missed the 9pm check in time. Lovely hot showers in room, the room was spotless too. Bar and restaurant could not fault, food was great! would recommend to anyone in the area wanting a place to stay and eat/drink.

Lovely pub / inn in a sheltered valley with a stream on Exmoor. Nice rooms, tastefully decorated and practical. Plenty of lounge space downstairs, lovely garden too. Very nice meals and attentive service plus nice music. All in all a very nice place to stay.
