stumbled across this gem when working in the area, got treated to one of the best sirloins ever to pass my lips, proper charming place and when i enquired about the history of the place, he shown me around a few old photos and explained who they were etc, a lovely place backed by wonderful staff, friendly locals too, not something you see every day, will defo go again if in the local area
A real inn run by real people! Whilst visiting a cousin in the area, he took us to this hidden gem. The landlords were front and centre, mixed in with the patrons, just how a traditional inn should be. Food was good pub grub and a lot for your money. If you're in the area, you have to visit.
Exactly what you want from a pub. Made to feel welcome by the knowledgeable landlords, excellently kept real ale (3 on tap, rotated regularly) and lovely, charming bar area - and some tables outside. Could only stay for a couple but would have happily stayed all day. If every pub was like this the world would be a better place
We have just had 2 meals over 2 nights and cannot fault either. Good banter with Mick & Gary made to feel really welcome. We would love to be regulars but only here on holiday
Went to the MM last week with my partner and our dog after an absence of some years. Relieved to see nothing had changed. Excellent beer and good pub food. The best Ploughman’s I have had for a long time. 3 types of cheese, salad, onions, chutney and warm bread. Very generous portions. Partner had chicken burger and chips. Food and drinks totalled £27. I have paid that for one plate of food in some pubs. We were the only customers that lunchtime (a Tuesday) and had a very interesting conversation with the owner aged 90 years. Just the place if you want a traditional country pub.
