A family run, traditional 12th century drover's inn perched high on a hill with beautiful views over the village of Penderyn and Brecon Beacons National Park.
Flagstone floors, log fires, traditional real ales and ciders gravity fed straight from the casks are accompanied by fabulous food lovingly created by our chefs from locally sourced ingredients to form a menu which changes regularly to reflect the very best of the season’s finest produce.
Fantastic Sunday lunch - Natalie and her team were so welcoming. Highly recommended , superb and tasty food, log fire and friendly staff .
If you have high standards for food, and want to pay £20-£25 for a main meal; here is your place. Hidden gem nestled next to the 4 waterfalls, will certainly be coming back. The chef deserves some kind of rosette as it’s genuinely one of the best places I have eaten, perhaps ever, and I do like food. We ordered the beef and the pork and both were cooked to perfection and although the sides may sound extravagant for the average pub frequenter (my husband is fussy and normally would whimper at braised pear), they complimented the meals effortlessly. The portions were just perfect for you to order a starter, main and dessert (we had white chocolate tart and date pudding which were the cherry on top). For the pièce de résistance we sat next to a roaring wood burner and sipped some cocktails appreciating our life choices. Finally, the staff were very accommodating and offered us a room in the cottage for £90.
Fab restaurant hidden away but worth a visit as the food is excellent and the traditional decor is timeless. We've visited a few times and the food is always superb. A little hidden gem...
After a fantastic tour at the Penderyn distillery, we decided to have lunch at the Red Lion Inn. Our luck put us by the cozy fireplace, and the dishes we ordered were not only visually appealing but also incredibly delicious. This charming, centuries-old country pub is nestled on a quaint country road, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. The friendly staff served us with a smile, and we savored every bite of our meal, knowing it was made from locally sourced ingredients. The menu featured a variety of drink options to complement the flavorful dishes. While some might find a few menu items a tad on the pricey side, I personally believe that the superior quality of the food, combined with the delightful ambiance, justifies the cost. An excellent choice for those who appreciate good food in a delightful setting.
A lovely old cosy country pub, tucked away up a narrow country road. We stopped for lunch here today after experiencing zip world tower. Friendly service and delicious food, made with locally sourced ingredients. Plenty of different drink options too. Some of the food options may be deemed a little pricey by some, but personally I don't mind paying a bit more for good quality food, and enjoying it in a wonderful setting.
