The privately operated Market House Pub + Kitchen sits right in the centre of the Charter Market town of Bridport with its street markets every Wednesday and Saturday. We are open from 10am every day with food available from 10am until 9pm (5pm on Sunday)
The early morning starts with anything from a beautiful Segefredo coffee, with cakes and breakfasts, small or large. The full menu, including specials, runs from midday and is complimented by an extensive range of drinks. A large part of the Market House can accommodate dogs, and children are welcome. Nothing can begin to come close to the disappointment my friends and I had when we came to this place. Their motto of good food, good beer and good cheer should be amended to mediocre food, flat beer and morgue fear. It saddens me that people have considered this a good meal, and a place to be. I’d rather be seen singing Baby Please Don’t Go than in this establishment. Patron beware.
Food took at least 45mins and was way below average. A burger for £15 that was dry, had two slices of cold cheese, cold buns, 4 bits of a tomatoe slice, See the picture!! There were 6 of us and we all left dissatisfied
Met an old friend for lunch. They had a sandwich, I had the salmon poke bowl, and it was flipping delicious. Also a much larger portion than I expected. Staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. Highly recommend .
My smoked brisket burger was brilliant. Some of my companions meals could have been warmer. Great atmosphere and service very enthusiastic and friendly. Nice coffee. A very good lunch experience. If the meals had been served hotter it would have been at least 5 stars
Me and and partner visited on 22/09/21 I don't often feel compelled to write reviews but everything about our visit was absolutely phenomenal. We was greeted by a lovely friendly Waitress who seated us promptly in the perfect spot. Moving on to the food, it was absolutely fantastic I ordered the mac and cheese main and my partner the rump steak. These meals arrived quickly and was presented beautifully. Upon tasting it just got better and better. The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth and the mac and cheese was the best I have ever had, it also came with home made garlic ciabatta which topped it off nicely. We ordered strawberry pavlova for dessert and might I add we was way to full for pudding but was so impressed we couldn't resist sampling dessert which again, DID NOT DISAPPOINT. honestly this is the best meal out we have had in a long time so much so that we will be visiting again before we travel home from our holiday. As someone that spent many years in hospitality from bar, Waitress and chef I am so thoroughly impressed with the absolutely smashing service from our server to the food and even our drinks. Thank you so very much for a memorable meal. And if you are reading this wondering whether this is the place you want to eat? Well the answer is an absolute yes.
