About us

The ‘Le De’ is a little flint pub, nestling in the woods at the back of Downley Common surrounded by acres of beautiful AONB land with miles of trails to explore.

This common land location makes an ideal refreshment stop after hiking, biking or for a regular family and friends social. Step through the gate from the track into a large, child friendly garden complete with play area, charming arbour and generous seating under a wonderful Hornbeam.

Inside you will find a warm, friendly atmosphere with an open fire, low ceilings and rustic beams. Landlord and Landlady, Mark and Sarah, serve excellent home-cooked food alongside a great line-up of real ales and wines.

If you are planning a special occasion and would like to spend it at the Le De Spencers, we would be happy to provide an appropriate menu or buffet. With our own marquee we can provide additional space for your party.

Stopped here for a weekday evening meal and a drink. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and can’t do enough for you. I had my dog with and she was spoilt by the staff. Great selection of drinks, the food menu is great too. The food was lovely (burger and pie). They also have a huge outdoor seating area and garden with kids area which I look forward to visiting in the summer. The location is a little strange but if you’re following the address on here your sat nav isn’t going crazy, it really is down a little country lane. Will definitely visit again.

Great pub in a fabulous location, good for a drink and/or something to eat any time of year. Great staff & atmosphere..... what more do you want from a pub?

We are regular lunchtime visitors to this pub when visiting family. The atmosphere is generally buzzing, the staff are welcoming and friendly, the food is excellent - although the portions could be a bit smaller! The chips are some of the best I've eaten, crunchy outside, fluffy inside. There's a good range of pub staples and a specials board, with several veggie options. It gets very busy sometimes, and as food is made freshly there may be a long wait for your food to arrive. In the meantime, there are 2-3 real ales on the bar, and some nice non-alcoholic drinks for drivers. There's a huge garden with swings etc., with awnings over tables closest to the pub for some shelter. Inside it's rustic country pub style, with a small snug and two other seating areas within the bar. The car park is quite big, but note that the 'road' to it off the common has some significant deep potholes!

The roast beef tasted more like pork, in fact it most likely was pork, it is the only explanation for the taste Whatever it was, it was tough. Seemed to be warmed up cooked slices rather than a cut from a joint roasted in the pubs chicken. The deserts were all bought in, well at least they seemed to be. Well kept ale, but sadly too cold. The prices are low. Will not be eating there again.

Popped in here after visiting Hughenden Manor. Such a great find - food was very good a d service was friendly. This is one of those pubs that you'd love to sit in the corner of and just chill out for the day. Lovely atmosphere.
