Food was beautifully presented and tasted fabulous . Staff friendly, polite, and attentive. Didn't know the area so parking was found difficult. So maybe ask on booking your meal .
Christmas present meal and we opted for the tasting menu. Absolutely superb. Every course a winner. Service was pleasant, maybe lacked a clear senior person leading the small junior team, but they did a good job. But the food, depth of taste at every stage. Creative but not over the top. For me it was better than many of the higher profile places in Cumbria. We'll be back.
Superb luxury microbreak with the ‘Beat the Winter Blues’ package. Food from the 7 course Signature Menu was amazing, seasonal, local, imaginative and delicious. 3 great real beers available. Real fires welcome on a freezing day. The breakfast also deserves a review of its own, pastries, porridge, granola and the fullest of Full Englishes.Even a decent coffee. The room was lovely, swanky yet cosy, and a top notch bathroom. The staff were all really friendly and helpful . Felt like we were pushing the boat out when we booked but ended up feeling like brilliant value for money. So much brilliant food. Thank you Freemasons, we had a lovely time and will be back
Had a lovely meal here that was let down a bit by some problems with the menu. The £39 January menu was great value. However on the website it says the main comes with chips, but when we ordered none came. I asked and they said the online version is only a sample. I understand that but the menu was almost entirely the same, just with the chips taken off, felt a bit cheeky but not a massive deal. My partner ordered a la carte and chose a dish with a “truffle potato sauce, and freshly shaved truffles”. No truffle was shaved on top and we were told that it was in the sauce. There didn’t appear to be any truffles shaved anywhere in the dish. Sounds like I’m whinging but it’s an £18 dish and the truffles are the most expensive component. In the end they knocked it down to £9 for us but they should fix the menu to be accurate. However, the food generally was excellent and the £39 menu is amazing value. Worth a visit, just look very carefully at the menu and don’t presume the online one is accurate, they might have taken some items off to bring their costs down.
One of the best in Lancashire. Rooms top notch if you are starting. Breakfast outstanding. If you are only dining the food is excellent and very good value for money. Good to have an enjoyable experience and not one where you feel you need to be in your breast behaviour and cannot relax.
