About us

Polished wooden flooring and panelling with moody lighting evoke feelings of relaxation, perfect for welcoming locals, visitors, gin and real ale lovers.
Six real ale hand pumps show the commitment and huge focus on real ale, including some unusual craft lagers and we occasionally host tap take overs from local breweries.
Set in the historic town of Wantage, the birthplace of King Alfred, The King’s Arms is a stunning listed building. Maintaining its historic frontage, the new owners have taken the signage back to its roots with traditional, gold leafed signage, but the fully refurbished interior has a more modern feel and a new lease of life has been breathed into the pub and it has been skilfully restored to its former glory.

Love the character of this pub. Stained glass windows, period fireplace, low beams (yes I cracked my head as I left πŸ€•: I'd only had 2 pints as well πŸ˜…). Had a very tasty Daymer Bay and then a refreshingly mild Mosaic IPA. Music wasn't really to my taste (blues rock), but I am a control freak when it comes to music πŸ˜‰ Award winning for a reason, do visit! πŸ‘Š

Visited for a few beers with friends. The beer choice is great (best in Wantage). My choice (BBN No. 5) was really nice. Good atmosphere and service. It is definitely my favourite pub to visit in Wantage for a drink.

Superb little pub selling real ale and a huge beer garden to boot.

There is a huge garden outside with plenty of tables and umbrellas. I never realised it had so much space. From the front, it looks much smaller. Friendly staff Great selection of drinks Nice atmosphere Shelf with board games to borrow Parking is in a local car park or if lucky in a bay near by.
