We are a traditional town centre pub located in the heart of Macclesfield and only a few minutes walking distance from both the train and bus stations.
Our pub has a real open fire surrounded by comfy chairs for you to enjoy on those cold winter evenings, where you can relax with your favourite tipple. We also have a lending library with a great selection of both books and DVD’s for you to borrow. All we ask is that you return them once you have finished with them and maybe bring us some of your old ones that you no longer want.
We are renowned locally as having the best beer garden in town. Well, it’s more of a yard than a garden, however it is a lovely place to sit and while away a few hours. You wouldn’t think you’re in the centre of the town with all the different flowers and plants. We also have some artwork on the walls with famous Blues and Jazz artists, created by a few local artists. One particular artist signed his with a mouse – see if you can find them all!
We take great pride in being a community pub. Although we are not a football pub, we do show other major sporting events and have a crib and darts team. Local bands play from time to time usually on a Sunday evening from 6pm. Anyone interested in coming to see a band should keep an eye on our facebook page as we advertise them on there and also posters dotted throughout the pub.
During your visit to 'The Jolly' you will notice our unique, somewhat eclectic décor. We have several items of interest dotted about the pub such as antique items, old signage and advertising slogans all collected and proudly displayed by our rather eccentric landlord! For those interested in the history of the town there are quite a few pictures adorning our walls depicting Macclesfield as it was a century or more ago. There is always something of interest to look at and talk about.

10/11/23: lovely little boozer. Small selection of craft ale/craft beer. Dog friendly! Roaring real log fire? We had the best seats in the house.
Great little traditional english pub. Not sure what food they do but wide selection of drinks. Prices were OK and sport was on the TV. Comfy seats. Pop in after you have had your tattoo from next door
On a mission as a young pub crawler to explore the extent of Bass in pubs around the country. Popped in here while I was in Macclesfield. Good cool pint of Bass, much appreciated in the current hot weather we’re getting. Pub itself has plenty of decor and interesting furnishings to satisfy any pub crawler! And if Bass isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of other good stuff on tap which you can see in pics I’ll attach! Recommended if you’re in town and after good ale, good surroundings and good atmosphere!
Lovely friendly locals bar near town centre. Lovely pint of Theakstones Best. Proper cosy bar. Small covered outdoor seating. Good choice.
Comfortable, relaxed and welcoming pub with fines beers. Limited menu of mainly Thai food but well worth making the effort to sample. Helpful staff, Clean and tidy toilets and interesting interior, a trip to this pub comes highly recommended.
