Very long wait for service, and some confusion over what meals we had pre-booked for an Xmas Meal for 3 of us. We booked for 6.30, but our starters did not arrive until 7.30. There was also a long wait for mains, and dessert. The food was perfectly fine, nothing exceptional, but the portions were very small for side dishes : 1 half of a roast potato each, 2 small parsnips, and 2-3 small pieces of carrot. The food was tasty and hot, but the wait, and the size of portions left us very disappointed. Not value for money at £30 per head.
The food itself was beautiful, very nice quality and all fresh. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating, but service was very slow. Also, very limited menu with little options for vegetarians.
Great meal when ever we go! Really enjoyed Friday night World Cup rugby menu, beautiful food and plenty of it, every mouthful was delicious 😋. Wasn’t as busy as we expected it would be given it’s so busy on Sundays - definitely recommend a Fri/Sat night. Thanks to very hospitable staff! We’ll be back.
Been meaning to visit The Islwyn Inn for far too long, finally we got there and what a great place it is. Their food is truly exceptional. A warm welcome and attentive staff made us feel right at home. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each expertly crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every bite a culinary delight, quite full after three generous courses then finished off with a fourth, the most amazing trifle dessert, fabulous, compliments to the chef.....a master of his craft. If you like your grub you will love The Islwyn Inn.
Food was a amazing, the beef was something else - literally melted in the mouth. Inn had a warm and cosy atmosphere with very friendly staff. I'd definitely return here for food. There is no car park, but plenty of space on the roads surrounding the inn.
