Excellent value for money. Very friendly staff welcome. Historic building with all I needed in the room. Breakfast was top notch with a great service. I’ll be back.
First of all the staff are brilliant, the place has obviously fallen on hard times but they do their best Can't comment in breakfast as we left too early, were still charged for food though although we did get a free cup of tea on arrival The room was of a good size and the bed was clean, what wasn't acceptable was no hot water in shower in the morning and our room window backed onto next door pub smoking area so was quite noisy till after midnight, not ideal when getting up at 05.00 The location was perfect and we were allowed to eat carry out dinner in bar as they no longer do evening meals
Very reasonably priced and quiet rooms, even if the decor is dated (carpeted bathrooms, anyone?). Breakfast was excellent, as was the evening meal, for which I particularly recommend the lasagne. The staff were constantly busy but always had time for you. Overall, a nice place to either stay for the night or just pop in for dinner.
I had a really bad experience at this hotel. My room was double booked which nobody seemed to have known about! I came back after a long day of meetings, opened the door to my room and there were two men sitting on the bed, watching TV. It was a very unpleasant surprise getting back late and wanting to relax. Instead, I had to find another hotel! The owner also wanted to charge me and my colleague twice and wasn't sure at all if the rooms were already paid for. Fortunately, the person in charge at night was very helpful and found me another hotel at no charge, which was much nicer! I do not recommend staying here.
Great hotel but the bar next door can be noisy especially at closing and magbe need to put signs up to be quite when leaving or smoking outside. Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Had a problem with the shower in my room which will hopefully be fixed for the next customer but still a great stay and will stay again
