The bar and waitress service was excellent & nothing was too much trouble for the manageress on shift. Our food was presented beautifully, lovely and hot & there was plenty of it. We had an added bonus of a 30%off main meals too.
I ordered fish in batter but the batter was soggy ,I didn't eat it. Waited 30 minutes for dessert to arrive, the pub was not busy, had to ask where they were & was told that they couldn't find the vegan ice cream. Chocolate fudge cake was cold & had asked for it to be warm, the Chocolate sauce had set solid on the side of the plate . Ice cream sundae looked nothing like the picture, no Chocolate ice cream & everything melted & running down the side of the glass.
As locals we were a bit disappointed this time,I had the Gammon which was grizzly and chewy and my partner had a steak and ale pie which had to much pastry and very little filling. We did tell a member of staff our comments he said he would pass them on to the Chef. Which was professional. This review would not stop us going back. A very nice pub with professional Staff.
Been under steady management for a few years now, has become quite reliable! Marston’s, decent kitchen (new chef joined recently too), pretty good for burgers. Waited a little bit longer than normal for food, but couldn’t fault it when it came (the manager did also say there was a table of 25 inside slowing things down). Nice outdoor seating area. Also, pretty good Sunday roast too. Prices have gone up a little bit but where hasn’t
A real local pub with a friendly feel. We were welcomed and served with fabulous food, drink and service. The atmosphere was welcoming and had a quiz later in the evening. We can’t wait to go back.

An early 18th Century listed building, formerly the coach house of the hotel next door. The Oak is one of Oswestry’s many free houses. This relaxed, unspoilt pub is situated close to the town centre opposite the parish church of St Oswald.
