A pleasant stay in appealing surroundings with excellent service and in a central location in Sedgefield. We look forward to welcoming you at The Hard Wick Arms Hotel, Sedgefield and invite you to take a look around our wide range of offers.
The Hardwick Arms Hotel and Restaurant is situated in the picturesque village of Sedgefield, close to local amenities and with easy access to historical Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. Originally an Old Coaching Inn, the Hardwick Arms Hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard throughout. The hotel offers 10 stylish appointed boutique bedrooms. All rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished together with en-suite facilities. Each room has complimentary hospitality tray, LCD television, unlimited WI-FI, Hair dryer, luxurious bedding, towels and toiletries. The Hardwick Arms was built in 1750 and was the site of Sedgefield’s main coaching inn” The ‘London to Edinburgh’ Stage Coach would stop for refreshments and overnight accommodation. The ‘expedition’ coach left for Leeds at 9.30am and for Newcastle at 4.30pm daily. Signs of these bygone days can be found in the archway with ‘kicking stones’ on either side which would kick the coach wheels away from the walls. Later, horse buses took passengers from this location to the railway station. Our newly appointed contemporary restaurant is spacious, intimate but very relaxing. We have a vast menu of classical English cuisine. We also boast an elegant array of fine wines and hand pulled beers.
It was a cosy place to have a quiet drink with friends, but I guess everything changes, a good old place or am I getting to old , all in all good real ale good old building good meals freindly staff .
This place is in a good situation and the staff were helpful giving us a taxi number when asked. The room was clean, and the little extras were a nice touch. The only problem was that the shower head seemed to be loose, which caused issues
This could so easily of been at least a 4 star review as the general appearance, condition and location of the place are great. Unfortunately the Bed linen stank like it had been left in a dusty cupboard for a year or 2 after having sweaty bodies sleep in it. Clean in appearance but dirty, dank and sweaty smelling nonetheless. Disappointing breakfast as nothing cooked on offer and the hotel owner needs to realize that a Continental breakfast is usually more than a bowl of rice crispys, toast and a cupcake. We were booked in for 2 nights but no amount of fabreze on the bed sheets could improve the smell and we checked out after the 1st night. Everything else was fine but in short the the 2 main and most important items of a hotel stay for many i.e your bed and breakfast were sadly extremely poor. We won't be back.
We have just stayed at the Harwick arms hotel in Sedgefield and we weren’t impressed the plumbing in the hotel bangs and rattles whenever you run water or flush the toilet. The continental breakfast was poor no eggs cheese meat or marmalade and communication with the manager was futile. They had no chef so meals weren’t available.
Great location in centre of Sedgefield with small bar and nice restaurant on site. Also very convenient for several other bars and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy rooms although in need of a bit of TLC. Nice breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
