We like to think of ourselves as a true country inn with a few luxurious touches thrown in, and we constantly take inspiration from our beautiful and historic surroundings. Whether you’re looking for a countryside getaway, a spot of lunch or afternoon tea, or just a pint of real ale as you’re passing through, you’ll be sure to find a warm welcome with us here at The King’s Head.
Had a lovely meal here with family. Kids loved it and the atmosphere was spot on. The bearded gentleman running the show was extremely happy to take my wifes allergies into consideration. Will be back!
Had lunch here one Saturday, three of us, with three dogs. Staff were exceptionally welcoming and professional. Seated at tables at the back of the bar rather than in the restaurant. The food was brilliant and well executed - three starters all great and the mushrooms on sourdough and two Korean chicken burgers as mains. Lovely pint of Butcombe Original as well. Top marks all around.
We came for our Christmas works do and hired the downstairs room with skittle alley. The food was delicious, the staff were great and very attentive. Sam was a lovely member of staff who couldn’t do enough for us and also a younger bar maid who was very helpful and cheery! We all had a great time and would love to come back next year! Would appreciate Malibu on the bar menu and also some new darts! Was a great night!
Visited on Sunday afternoon to celebrate a family birthday. Food is very overpriced for the quality received no better quality or presentation than a cheap pub chains offering but about 3 x the price. Most of the ale options on the drinks menu were not available. Service was slow to no existent had to wait over 30 mins for the main course plates to be cleared once finished. Would not recommend or be returning
I am not one who normally leaves a review but on this occasion we found the experience to be wholly underwhelming and a massive disappointment. It’s a great pub in a great location but they really do need to step up their game. There were 8 of us for a birthday celebration dinner on Saturday night. The general ambience of the pub is great but goes down hill in the restaurant and needs some background music. There appear to be enough staff who are pleasant enough but don’t seem to have the experience or confidence. Most of the options we would have selected on the menu were not available which left us with a very restricted choice. I noticed a previous response about all the ingredients being fresh - well they couldn’t even do chips so someone really needs to work on the sourcing and stocking of supplies. The bread and Olives for 7.95 was a French stick you could get in any supermarket and the balsamic was more like malt vinegar. The food took almost an hour to come and people on other tables next to us were walking out as the service took so long. We persevered , but when the food came I’m not sure we should have. We didn’t get value for money, it was expensive and pretty shoddy and none of us would go back which is a shame as we ate there a couple of months ago and had recommended it. We paid the bill without complaining but left without even considering desserts or coffees…
