Great Oak Beefeater

Join us at the Great Oak Beefeater for delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners just off the A3 in Petersfield. Our specialty is our minimum 30-day aged steaks, from our 8oz rump to our premium T-bone, everything’s grilled to perfection. Whether you’re here for our famous grills or our pub classics like surf and turf or our smothered chicken melts, look forward to putting down roots and enjoying a great meal with us here at the Great Oak.

Our team

We’re so lucky to have such a friendly and welcoming team at the Great Oak, who have really grown with us since we opened in 2006. Our team are great at putting people at ease and making sure everyone has a great dinner with us, from our hard-working serving team to our expert kitchen team.

We do our best to support the community, whether that’s through raffle prizes in aid of schools and local charities or bigger projects sponsoring the local football team.

Our location

We’re named after the Great Oak, a majestic 350-year-old tree next door. We may not be quite as tall or as old as our neighbour, but we’ve been serving fantastic quality steak for over 15 years, and we’ve become pretty good at it! We’re really easy to get to, just off the A3 with easy links on to Portsmouth, Winchester and Chichester.

Our restaurant has a relaxed bar area and a great pub garden, with views of our friendly neighbour, the Great Oak Tree itself. If you’re looking for a prime pub lunch and some of the best steak in Hampshire, you’ve come to the right place!

Make sure to take a look at our offers page for all our latest deals and promotions.

Why we love Petersfield

Hampshire has some of the most scenic spots to visit in the UK and our quaint market town of Petersfield is no exception. The Great Oak is really close to some great days out, whether that’s National Trust Parks like Queen Elizabeth Country Park or the South Downs National Park, a relaxing stroll after a delicious meal with us is a treat everyone deserves! We’re also close to Portsmouth Dockyard, with beautiful sea views – perfect after stopping by for fish and chips for dinner!

There’s plenty of other things to do in Petersfield, all close to our restaurant. Explore Petersfield Museum, take a trip back through time at Butser Ancient Farm or discover the deer at Sky Park Farm.

We had a brilliant meal here with amazing service (thanks Louise!) and excellent food. It was a Friday night so the restaurant was busy but that didn't stop speedy service, with drinks order being taken within 5 minutes of sitting down and food orders taken not long after. We had made a specific request for a quiet table and Louise checked immediately if the table they had allocated was going to be suitable for our son. Food was all excellent and service overall brilliant.

Couldn’t fault it! Staff were amazing, friendly and accommodating, especially friendly and fun with my daughter. The young lad that served us was very informative and gave brilliant service. Food was great at an amazing price. 2 courses after 5pm Monday to Friday for £14.95 (something like that). Location just off the motorway and easy to get too. Thank you!

We stopped here for a spot of dinner whilst staying at the premier Inn adjacent. The pub had a nice relaxed atmosphere and the menu although not large was extensive. The food was average, the staff were friendly. There was a fairly good selection of wines, beers and spirits, it's a beefeater so it's consistent.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to have lunch at this lovely place. Our waiter George was simply wonderful. He showed us the best spot in the restaurant area, provided the allergies information and checked that my choices from the menu were acceptable for my needs. I had a mouthwatering salmon salad and a delicious vegan ice-cream and fruit sorbet for dessert. At the end we were given a Happy anniversary card with a small box of chocolates. All in all a very nice experience and I highly recommend this place to anybody reading this comment.
