Nice old pub, lovely beer, got told off for having phone in hand. "This is a technology free zone!" I was forcefully told. ... until it came to payment, when apparently tech is fine.
This was a bit of surprise as in, there are No mobile devices allowed at all, they try to promote conversion which worked really well. The main reason for my review is the food, it was the Best fish and chips I have ever had with no exaggeration. Highly recommended and we will definitely call again when in this area.
Traditional pub serving Sam Smith's beers. Still using the 1970's style electric pump to serve real ale. Cannot post internal pictures as no phone / laptop / tablet allowed. Got shouted at by bar staff. Not sure about a separate camera or watch? ( I own neither.) Sunk a quick pint of Old Brewery bitter before catching the train home. Had to hope their clock was correct. Paulicarus was waiting for me at the station.
Having visited this pub many times, I decided to have a Sunday lunch here with my family (10.04.22). The food was delicious. I had 3 meats and all were cooked to perfection as were the veg and Yorkshire pudding. The gravy is obviously home made and that is delicious too. The price is very reasonable too. The attached photo is the smaller serving so the person with a larger appetite will be happy with the standard serving! I'll be back for Sunday lunch again soon.
Great pub, great selection of house-brewed beers, staff are very friendly and helpful in recommending what you might like, atmosphere is very cozy, patrons are friendly and talkative. Also as a Sam smiths the beer is great quality and at a great pirce. Definitley recommend this pub if you haven't been before. Don't let the exterior put you off this place, it's absolutely one of the better pubs in Frodsham.
