Went in for a meal on the way back from a day out in N.Cornwall... Hung around for a while for someone to man the bar, listened to how the local terriermen would wish to kill vegans/huntsabs with various shotgun bores, no staff arrived... we left never to return.
Unfriendly no real ale despite the sign outside advertising that it did. Looks lovely outside but very disappointed.
Came across the Golden Inn by chance on a walk. Lovely 16th century pub, locals were welcoming. Landlord is a character. Food is only available at limited times. (Change of kitchen staff recently). Had a meal later in the week, very nicely presented and cooked. Enormous portions, very reasonable price. Basic menu.
Arrived, after walking tired, looking for a friendly atmosphere after finding the village store closed for good. First time in the village. Not welcoming, It felt very exclusive to locals. We left within 10 minutes.
A traditional small village pub. Friendly landlord. Enjoyed a good Sunday roast and reasonably priced as well.
