Beautiful traditional pub situated just off the A1 offering delicious home cooked food & traditional country style en-suite accommodation.
A true taste of Yorkshire. Sometimes the best thing to do is to keep things simple. Great tasting food, local ales expertly kept and a friendly service from the moment you walk in.
Our menu is made up of traditional classics along with some more modern favourites. Sunday carvery is always popular, so we do recommend booking to avoid disappointment. We have a wide range of premium gins and wines that are perfect for any occasion and craft beers from around the world.
We stayed here from Wednesday till today so we could go to the races. What a beautiful place, the staff were amazing, the lovely redhead behind the bar was so hospitable she couldn't do enough for us. The food was amazing, the rooms are lovely and cozy. Can't wait to go back again. Thank you for everything, Nicola and Christian, room 2.
Have eaten here in a number of occasions and it never fails to impress, you be left wondering if there is a Michelin star chef out back!!! The food is ambrosial, always cooked to perfection and served with a smile. The staff are courteous and polite with the service quick and at a high standard. Would highly recommend anybody to visit.
Nice looking country pub. Visited on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm without a reservation. We were seated quickly and decided to have the Sunday carvery. There was a choice of three meats. Two had gammon and two had beef. The gammon was lovely whereas the beef was very undercooked and inedible. We had to leave it. Service was fine. Toilets were clean.
We stayed here when visiting an old friend in Richmond during our UK trip. Pub food was delicious and the beer even more so. Rooms were so-so, much more convenient if you're the size of a horse jockey and not a 192cm, 107kg Texan like me... but nice enough! Thanks!
Went for a meal mid day with a friend and was disappointed at how run down and dirty the place was. We sat down and there were crumbs all over the chairs from the previous people. Staff were quick to serve us when we arrived. The menu was an odd mixture of pub classics and some nicer dishes. There seemed to be a good amount of veggie or vegan options for people. Food came in good time and portion size was good. I would say prices were a bit high for the place and quality.
