Nice pub nice food however took dog friendly too far very unhygienic dog on the bar counter disgusting especially when they serve food I wonder in environmental health know about this !!!
This is a Traditional no frills pub close to the Derwent walk. Great for people out walking, as you don't have to worry about wet muddy footwear and clothes. I sat next to the real coal fire, which on a chilly day was lovely. Dogs are made to feel welcome and are offered bowls of water. The choice of food seemed limitless, I had the Bubble and Squeak. It was tasty but there was too much of it and I had to leave some, much to my disgust. The only criticism, was that they could not offer soya milk to my friends and did not have any gluten free puddings.
Lovely food nice place.the fish and chips was enormous not that I'm complaining ha ha
The food was OK, though this was not what I would describe as over whealming in terms of welcome, there was not much chance in getting caught up in conversation, though the chef singing Bohemian Rhapsody in the kitchen was a highlight. Decent value for money, above average food.
Popped in here for a quick spot of tea with my friend Mags, she had the corned beef pie and I had the steak and ale pie Both came with chips and fresh cooked veg with lashings of gravy so delicious…. followed by the apple crumble and custard 🤩🤩 Would highly recommend
