Berkshire's first micropub opened on 14 November 2014. It is situated near West Berkshire Council offices in Market Street and set back from the main road. Space for 6 casks on custom made stillage. Beers are sourced from local breweries like Andwell, Downton, Ramsbury, Loddon and Indigenous. Between two and four beers are usually available. Real ciders on draught often includes a local one from Tutts Clump Cider. Drinks available are shown on a large blackboard. Furniture includes two tables, a long pew, wooden chairs and high stools. Windows on two sides give plenty of natural light. There are several council run car parks nearby. Pork pies, pickled eggs, rolls, pickled onions, crisps, nuts and pork scratchings may be available. Landlord Ian Batho was previously at the Woodpecker, Wash Water. Casks are cooled by cold water flowing through tubes between the cask and insulated jacket.
Ian is a curator of ales. Take the time to get to know him and his process. You won't be dissapointed.
Unfortunately does not sell Craft Ale. Seems OK for traditional Real Ale, and Cider. For something exciting try The Inn At Home beer shop round the corner instead for the best Berkshires Breweries have on offer.
Nice cozy micro pub, there is a nice collection of ales and wines. Outdoor seating is good for summer evening hangouts.
Always a friendly welcome at this micropub, with a selection of interesting beers that you don't see around too often. The barrels change frequently so there are always different beers, ciders etc available when you visit. Be prepared to share one of the 3 tables with others and enjoy good conversations! There are a few small tables outside too if the weather is decent.
Brilliant little micro bar. Friendly locals. Crisp nuts and pickled egg food list. Old school beer out of the barrel. Perfect.
