The Middle House, as it is known, is a family-run, one-room locals' pub with interesting photographs of Marske through the ages around the walls, represents a 1960s time warp. It serves five regular beers, three in winter, plus a guest beer with a free standing mahogany island bar featuring, which is a rarity in this area. One of the pub's best sellers over the years has been Copper Dragon Golden Pippin, which is now back up and running with the original brewers in place. There is no TV, no jukebox, no pool table, no children/teenagers - just the locals indulging in convivial conversation. Occasional live music. There is no catering either as such, but tea and coffee are available, while cheese and biscuits are available on Sunday lunchtimes. It has a pleasant south-facing outdoor drinking area. CAMRA local branch Winter Pub of the Season 2020.
Very traditional old pub. Does have food or music but is a great place to meet and chat with friends. Nice selection of drinks and a warm welcome. Reasonably priced drinks and good service.
Look, it got 5 stars because I had a cracking afternoon/ night. It's what you expect from a traditional style pub. It's dated (to death) but, toilets are clean, service is fast efficient and very friendly. Prices are fair and it's a "local" People are friendly and never any bother. I'll be back.
Large open plan pub. Friendly enough. Perimeter seats not that comfy. Beer was cheap. Toilets are so dated they have come back into style. Hopefully they don’t get refurbished.
Old fashioned pub. But doesn't take card payments. You need to have a look at the decor in the toilets. The lady serving was nice and polite. BIG WARNING, beware of the speed bumps going into the car park
Initially made to feel unwelcome and on the strength of that, wouldn't have gone back. There are three pubs in the town so we went back under duress as a pub crawl would be difficult otherwise. The Landlady was absolutely lovely and took on board our feedback. Just goes to show that sometimes you need to give a second chance. The toilets are awesome. If you have a love of brown seventies suites and tiles, this pub is for you. Give it a few years and they will be preserved as historically important.
