Situated in the picturesque village of St. John's Town of Dalry, half way along the western section of the Southern Upland Way, The Clachan Inn has established itself with comfortable rooms, great food and drink, and service to match.
Enjoy a real ale & craft beer by the log fire in the bar or lounge before ordering a meal which can be eaten in either the bar, lounge or restaurant. All the food in our extensive menu is freshly made from high quality locally sourced produce. Our rooms are spacious and comfortable. Guests who are in the area to hunt or shoot can make use of the security cabinets in each bedroom, and walkers of the Southern Upland Way should appreciate the welly racks.
The Clachan Inn - Bar viewSt. John's Town of Dalry is within close proximity to Castle Douglas, Scotland's food town, and Kirkcudbright, Scotland's Artist Town. Ayr and Dumfries are only a short drive away and Glasgow is less than two hours distant. The Clachan Inn is ideally situated to explore the wonderfully unspoilt South West corner of Scotland but within easy reach of some of Scotland's bigger towns and cities.
Best restaurant meal for years. Food generous and imaginative but not fussy. Service friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable but not grovelling. Top marks all round.
I didnt stay so cant comment on the rooms, but a gorgeous little dog friendly pub! Staff were really welcoming, we had a big table in for a family meal and the food was stunning with amazing vegan options! Beautiful walks to do around the area, and then into the pub to sit in front of the fire and have a nice drink - perfect
Amazing spot. Tranquil pub with quality ale on offer. Restaurant serves top-notch food. Staff were super friendly. Lovely rooms complete with gun locker if that's your thing. Some are even dog friendly. I imagine you need to request one when booking. Would recommend booking a table for food to avoid disappointment. Restaurant is generally busy.
Visited for Sunday lunch and it was an amazing experience! The restaurant and the bar have a lovely atmosphere. The open fireplaces make it feel cosy and warm. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the service was great. The menu was up on the board and the choice of food was great! We enjoyed absolutely delicious food and we will certainly be back! The quality of the food is truly outstanding. Highly recommend!
The food is indeed AA 3 stars and absolutely delicious. The rustic romantic restaurant and pub has a fishing theme running. If you look carefully you will notice that there are fishing rods mounted to the ceiling. Booking a table is recommended. After 7pm it got quickly quite busy.
