About us

If you’re looking for delicious pub food and a base for visiting the best spots in Doncaster, the Cheswold Lodge Brewers Fayre is the restaurant for you. We have lots of outdoor dining space, indoor soft play areas for kids and a menu full of tasty pub classics.

Our team

We’re lucky to have such a friendly team with a passion for making people feel welcome. Nothing’s too much trouble for us, and we love making birthdays, parties or any events extra special. Our kitchen team are top notch and make sure every meal tastes great.

We care about doing our bit for the community – we support Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital as part of our national campaign, and a cancer charity called Firefly locally.

Our location

Cheswold Brewers Fayre was built on the former RAF Doncaster site in the 1990s. This site has always been popular because it’s so close to Doncaster Racecourse. We’re also in a great spot next to scenic Lakeside Lake and walking trails nearby. After you’ve enjoyed a delicious meal with us, there’s so many things to see nearby.

Our restaurant has a large indoor play area suitable for children of any age, although height restrictions are in place at 140cm. We also have a soft play area for toddlers and younger kids too.

We split our restaurant into different zones to make sure everyone feels comfortable. We have a large family dining area close to the play area, perfect for hassle-free family dinners. Our adult-only dining section is a quieter part of the restaurant, ideal for romantic meals out or just relaxing alone. And finally, there’s our bar area, for pints on the go, bar snacks or just recharging your phone. We also have BT Sports in our bar, so you’ll always be able to keep up with the big game!

Make sure to take a look at our offers page for all our latest deals and promotions.

Why we love Doncaster

Doncaster is probably most famous for its racecourse, which we’re only a 20-minute walk or a 4-minute drive away from. There are brilliant races throughout the year, including the famous St Leger Festival and much more – if you’re in town it’s definitely worth a visit. Wherever you’re heading in town, the Cheswold Lodge is a great base for a delicious meal before exploring the rest of Doncaster.

The Cheswold Lodge is in the Herten Triangle Retail Park, we’ve got a cinema and the bowling alley right next door if you’re looking for fun things to do after dinner. We’re only half a mile away from the Doncaster Dome, which has an ice-skating rink, a swimming pool, gyms and even hosts gigs.

There’s plenty of other things to see nearby. We’re only about three miles away from Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Conisbrough Castle, Sandall Park and Cusworth Hall Museum & Park are just a short drive away too. No matter what kind of trip you’re after, the Cheswold Lodge is close to all the best things to do in Doncaster.

Still no wine glasses. For the last six months they've had no or very few large wine glasses. They just mix and match with whatever they've got. We got offered pouring it into two small ones, two straight ones like you'd get a coke in or two cocktail glasses. Six months it's been like this. How hard can it be? It's over the road from an Asda, just go and buy some. The place is nowhere near full, not even a quarter full and someone has just been told it's an hour wait for food. He left. It's going down the pan I'm afraid and the ones to feel sorry for is the staff who are clearly getting no support whatsoever.

Not been here for a while as last time it wasnt good BUT today it was excellent. We had the Carvery and it was superb! The meat was cooked to perfection. We would have given 5 stars but the central heating had broke, and the carrots were a bit hard for our liking. It was only £11.95 and worth every penny. Looks like its recently been decorated and was clean and tidy throughout.

We had our Christmas dinner here, myself my partner and our child. It was ok. The food was standard, didn’t have much portion wise and we paid extra £2.99 for portion of pigs in blankets each, that portion was 3 single pigs in blankets (as pictured), the atmosphere was good from customer side however their was 1 staff member who was rude, not to us personally but could be over heard being rude to other guests nearby which didn’t give off a good atmosphere. Will not be eating here again sadly.

We popped in for a drink after a walk. We sat outside as had the puppy with us. We were served quickly and had lots of choice of tables to sit at the back of the restaurant. There were quite a few empty glasses and bottles about though unfortunately. The toilets were very clean and well kept. All in all it was an enjoyable visit 🙌

If I could give this a 0 star rating I would. Me and my friend came to grab a bite to eat and let the kids play in the play area for an hour or so. On arrival, every single table that was not in use was filled to the brim in mucky glasses and plates. Mountains of food embedded into the floor and everything else you could touch. The toilets literally overflowing with sewage all over the floors, because it had been blocked and unchecked. Not one member of staff was monitoring/observing the play area, so in terms of health and safety god knows what would have happened say an issue occurred. We were there around 10 minutes before deciding to leave and I can assure you that we will never be returning again after this experience.
