Situated in the historic quarter of the city, The Cardinal's Hat is just a five minute stroll from the cathedral. First mentioned in 1497, The Cardinal's Hat has plenty of experience when it comes to pleasing weary pilgrims. Today, it is a friendly and informal pub which serves a great collection of real ale and freshly-prepared pub snacks, with the additional of 6 boutique city rooms to stay in.
We really enjoyed our stay, loved the old building, great atmosphere, the room was clean and comfortable the staff were friendly and helpful, the only down side was the breakfast could have been better, we have stayed in a lot of places so expect a high standard, would I stay there again yes I would.
A good selection of beers, and a very interesting building. Friendly service, and clientele. We only popped in for a pint, so never managed to try the rooms - that may change in the future.
We booked a room here close to Christmas. We chose it because we could stay with our dog. Price wise it was about £30 more than the Travelodge but it included two full English breakfasts and a surcharge for the dog which is fair enough. Location is great, everything is on your doorstep. The pub was bustling and our room was warm, clean and cozy. Would happily stay again.
Loved our room two flights above the hotel. Built in bed was extremely comfortable but not good if you have mobility issues. Breakfast served in a picnic basket and was delightful. I will definitely stay again if in area.
We stopped for a drink with family. The atmosphere was great. Lots of people sitting in the rear beer garden, people checking into the accommodation and a wonderful selection of craft ales in on tap. Well worth a visit.
