Went for the mother in laws Birthday the menu sounds nice and a good variety but doesn't warrant the price for pub food (but that's what it is if you like that. Service was slow but it was busy. Clean nice pub other than that
We went to The Bull for the Monthly Pub Quiz - such a great night! No better way than to spend an evening and enjoying delicious food to boot! Thank you so much to Ally for her great service and making sure we had all we needed. Highly recommend The Bull for its at atmosphere, food and service.
A lovely pub, right next to the woods. Food is good and great service. It's such a shame that they don't allow dogs in any part of the pub, considering it's at the edge of a very popular woodland where families walk their pets. I would have thought that they would have allowed dogs in the new extension. Eating outside with pets is not acceptable in this weather.
It's been a while since I'd gone to the Bull and had forgotten just how good it is. Even my grandchildren commented on how good the food was! Our waitress, Ally, was brilliant, thank you so much for making this eating experience a really good one for us. Won't be so long till we return next time. I'll also mention the outdoor eating facilities in the summer that are just as comfortable and pleasing an environment.
Seven of us had pre ordered our xmas meal online after filling out a lengthy form with our orders (no need for this as one of the starters wasnt available as it hadn't been ordered by the staff or they had run out, as informed by the waitress) but I felt it wasnt going to go well on arrival. It started off by the barman complaining to me about the dirty glasses that had been left by the waiting staff on the counter. One of our party had dietary needs so didnt order off the xmas menu but this had already been discussed with the restaurant on booking. When we sat down it was mentioned again that no onion or garlic could be in the meal so the waitress said she would check the food packets (so prepacked food) to see if it contained any of the ingredients. It turned out most of the food contained some form of it so my friend went for the vegan burger that when served, had raw onion on top of the burger under the bun! My Xmas meal seemed to have just been thrown in the microwave as some of it was hot and some was luke warm. The Yorkshire pudding was soft, the roast potatoes were rubbery and the sprouts were hard in the middle and watery mush on the outside with no flavour. The dessert was the funniest with the Xmas pudding looking like it had been cut wth a meat slicer as the portion was rectangular and about 2cm thick (I've added a picture). Others had cheesecake that they said had a weird taste and the top of it was a slimy mass that came off the biscuit base. The food has clearly been cheaply sourced by Greene King and it shows! This used to be a nice pub restaurant but the service and food has gone downhill in a big way and it's only the location and its historic value that brings customers in but that will soon change if Greene King dont up their game.
