The Buck Inn is a welcoming country pub overlooking the green in the beautiful village of Thornton Watlass which is at the entrance of Wensleydale, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
It is the ideal base from which to explore this fantastic part of the country whether you are keen walkers, cyclists, sightseers or are simply looking to relax and unwind. We welcome families and dogs, and also offer fishing and golfing breaks.
The Inn is located just a short distance from the A1 making us a great place for a stop over if you are in the area. The Buck Inn is located amongst a fantastic array of charming market towns and picturesque villages including Middleham, Masham and Harrogate. Our restaurant and bar is great for relaxing in and offers a choice of locally brewed real ales. All our food is made on the premises, using local suppliers wherever possible.
Tony and Vicki Jowett have now been at the Buck Inn for 2 years, and have just completed a total refurbishment of the property. This has included all bedrooms and bathrooms, the exterior and beer garden, the bar, and a brand new kitchen. The most recent job was a complete updating of The Long Room – a function room and dining area, overlooking the village green, where cricket is played during the Summer, and where cows can be seen grazing the outfield!.

Another wonderful stay. The hospitality was excellent along with the food. Looking forward to our next stay. Thankyou
We called in for lunch, with friends. Really good service, and quality of the food is good aswell. A bit remote, but it's worth a visit if you're in the area
Just been in this afternoon for a bite of Sunday lunch. Staff were friendly and provided excellent hospitality. We ordered 2 Top side of Beef Sunday lunches. Food came quickly. Portion size was good, you won’t go hungry. The beef was excellent, cooked well and full of flavour. It came with a side of veg, and cauliflower cheese. What came was enough to feed 2-3 people. Overall an excellent experience, and a credit to the village.
Lovely friendly pub B&B that also serves delicious evening meals. Light bright clean room & a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious & there was plenty of choice. Perfect for a break in this lovely area.
This is the whole experience. You always know you are winning when locals use a place. Lovely spot on the green and nice to come back to a meal after a day out.
